New Delhi, December 20: Mobile internet and SMS services continued to remain suspended in parts of Delhi-NCR region even on Friday, despite mobile operators claiming that all services were restored. Several Airtel users complained that they were not able to send or receive messages as internet and messaging services remained shut in several parts. While internet services of mobile operators including Vodafone, Reliance Jio worked fine, Bharti Airtel users complained of no internet.

Several Airtel users shared a screenshot of the SMS they received from the mobile operator stating, 'As per government instructions, internet services have been stopped in your area'. On Thursday, telecom operator Airtel had claimed that all its mobile internet services which were suspended in parts of Delhi, were restored later in the day. The internet connectivity was snapped in view of the demonstrations planned by various groups against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NCR). Delhi Airport Flight Operations Remain Affected Due to Dense Fog And Crew Operational Limitations.

On Thursday, mobile operators including Airtel, Vodafone and Reliance Jio had suspended internet and SMS services to people in parts of Delhi in the wake of protests against CAA. According to a notification, internet was suspended on Thursday in order to prevent misuse of social media platforms to disturb peace and tranquillity, according to a notification. SMS and internet services were affected in parts of Old Delhi, Mandi House, Seelampur, Jafrabad, Mustafabad, Jamia Nagar, Shaheen Bagh, Bawana among other areas.

Bharti Airtel said it was complying with government orders and the services will resume once the suspension order is lifted. “We are complying with instructions received from government authorities on suspending voice, sms and data in certain areas in New Delhi. Once the suspension orders are lifted, our services will be fully up and running,” the company said in a statement.
