New Delhi, August 29: National carrier Air India is all set to ban use of plastic in Alliance Air & Air India Express from 2nd October. According to a tweet by ANI, Ashwani Lohani, Chairman and Managing Director of Air India said a complete ban on plastic would come into effect from October 2, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Lohani assured that the fuel supply issues will get normal soon. "Fuel supply issues will be sorted soon. Earlier, we faced a loss of Rs 4 crores daily due to closure of Pakistani airspace", Lohani said. Air India Owes Rs 5,000 Crore in Fuel Dues; Hasn't Paid in 230 Days, Say Oil Companies.
On August 22, several oil marketing companies (OMCs) had stopped the supply of fuel to Air India at six airports due to non-payment of dues, said a senior airline official. However, the flight operations of the airline are currently normal and unaffected.

According to reports, the airports where the fuel supply was stopped by the state-owned OMCs at around 4 pm are Cochin, Visakhapatnam, Mohali, Ranchi, Pune and Patna. Air India Won't Get Fuel at Six Airports, Oil Companies Suspend Supply Over Non-Payment of Dues.
On August 25, Lohani said that stoppage of fuel supplies at six airports from Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) is because of an overall shortage of funds."It is because of an overall shortage of funds but doesn't reflect on the operational performance and recent efforts of the airline," Lohani said.
