New Delhi, May 27: National carrier Air India on Monday announced new flights on the busy Delhi-Dubai, Mumbai-Dubai and Delhi-Mumbai sectors starting at affordable rates. In a bid to fill the void created by the suspension of Jet Airways', Air India announced that bookings of all the new flights have begun. The direct flights from Mumbai and Delhi will be available at an inaugural price of Rs 7,999 on both the routes for the economy class and Rs 24,999 for the business class. The airline will use the B787 airplanes on these international routes. The decision has been taken in the wake of the peak summer travel demand. Grounded Jet Airways Leads to More Dubai-Bound Air India Flights From Early June.

The India-Dubai route is believed to be one of the most lucrative sectors. The demand on this route is always very high due to high business as well as leisure travel. According to a report by IANS, about half a dozen local and domestic carriers connect 20 Indian cities with the city-state.

Here's the tweet:

On May 22, the airline announced that various new flights would begin from June on domestic as well as international routes in order to meet passengers' heavy demand during the summer vacation. The national carrier said it will offer additional 3,500 seats per week on Mumbai-Dubai-Mumbai route from June 1. In its statement, Air India said it will offer additional 3,500 seats per week on Delhi-Dubai-Delhi route too from June 2 by operating two new flights using its B787 Dreamliner aircraft. "The airline will offer one way Economy class promotional fare of Rs 7777 (all inclusive) from both Delhi and Mumbai to Dubai for sale and travel up to July 31, 2019," Air India said in a statement.

Earlier in May, the civil aviation ministry decided to allot about 5,700 weekly seats to the Air India  out of grounded Jet Airways' unused quota on the lucrative India-Dubai route. According to reports, the public sector airline was also promised over 5,000 seats on India-Qatar route besides about 4,600 additional seats to and from London.
