Mumbai, September 8: Amid the rising cases of unruly behaviour by passengers on flights, BJP leader Sujit Das Choudhury was recently offloaded from a Kolkata-bound flight at the Silchar airport for unruly behaviour. Speaking to news agency IANS, PK Gorai, an Airport Authority of India (AAI) official, said that Das was offloaded from the flight of Alliance Air for his unruly behaviour.
"He didn't know the standard protocol of not talking on phone during take-off," Gorai said. Sharing more insights into the incident, the AAI official said that crew members repeatedly asked Das to switch off his cell phone; however, he did not pay heed. Das then got involved in an altercation with the crew members and even went to misbehave with them. The situation escalated when a few co-passengers who were travelling with Das Choudhury also joined the altercation. Following this, Das was offloaded while at least ten co-passengers deboarded the plane. An officer privy to the case said, "At one point he started threatening the air hostess and said he had the ability to buy the flight and her as well", reports Live Hindustan. The incident reportedly delayed the flight by 29 minutes. As per reports, Sujit Das Choudhury is the leader of Silchar Kaibarta Parishad. Sujit Das Choudhury Denies Allegations
Speaking to local media, the BJP leader reportedly denied the allegations made against him. According to Das, he had pointed out at "broken seats" and "non-functional ACs" and raised concern about passengers' safety.
