Ahmednagar Police Arrests Three Men Impersonating as Indian Army Jawans From Pune; Case Registered
Ahmednagar Police on Thursday arrested three civilians dressed in army uniforms from Pune. The three men were arrested for impersonation, cheating and entering a restricted area of defence.
Pune, January 5: Ahmednagar Police on Thursday arrested three civilians dressed in army uniforms from Pune. The three men were apprehended for impersonation, cheating and entering a restricted area of defence. The police after interrogating a person who was caught wearing a military uniform and loitering in defence area arrested two more civilian men in combat uniform roaming around in the area. According to a report published in the Hindustan Times, one of the arrested is from Goregaon, Ahmednagar the other two of them are from Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh. An FIR was file with Bhingar police. One of the accused was identified as Pradeep Sitaram Shinde, a resident of Goregaon, Ahmednagar. After being confronted, Shinde produced a fake identity card. Police are carrying out further investigation in the case.
In a similar incident, Lucknow police arrested a man impersonating as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Indian Army for forgery and misusing the army uniform on October 24. The 40-year-old Arvind Mishra had been staying in Lucknow for the last one year and had created a fake Facebook profile in the name of Lt Col Rahul Mishra. He also posted photographs in the army uniform. There were also complaints against him of cheating several people especially young women, by promising them of jobs and taking money in return.
