Ahmedabad, June 3: A joyride turned a nightmare for 40 people who got stuck after a merry-go-round developed a technical snag at a funfair in Ahmedabad. The incident took place around Sunday midnight. The Ahmedabad Fire Brigade carried out a daring operation to rescue stranded people. One of the persons was stuck in mid-air in the uppermost cubicle of the tall merry-go-round.
A person stuck on the merry-go-round called fire brigade officials. The tall ride developed a technical snag when it was at its full pace. Minutes after receiving the call, the staff of the Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services rushed to the west end of the Sabarmati Riverfront and rescued stranded people, reported news agency IANS. The fire brigade used a 55-metre-tall snorkel to rescue people. Those rescued included 14 children and eight women. The video of the daring rescue operation is being shared on social media. In the video, fire brigade officials are seen using a snorkel to rescue people from the merry-go-round.
