Ahmedabad, July 26: A fire of moderate intensity erupted at Ganesh Genesis, a prominent high-rise located close to Nirma University, on Friday. The building is located off the SG Highway, an arterial road linking various parts of the city. Fire tenders have been rushed to the spot to douse off the flames.

Several were feared to be trapped inside the residential tower by the time preliminary reports had emerged. The evacuation operation was launched by the fire brigade personnel and rescue workers. No casualties were incurred by the time this report was first published. Fire Breaks Out in Bengaluru Godown, 11 Fire Tenders Rushed to Spot

Injuries were expected, said a firefighting personnel involved in the operation. Ambulances were kept on standby to rush the victims to the nearest hospitals.

As per the clip going viral on social media, the flames could be seen emanating from middle of the building. The top floors are covered with a thick black smokes billowing into the air.

The last major fire in Ahmedabad was reported in September 2018, when the Shreeji Towers located near Himalaya Malls went up in blaze. Six fire tenders were then needed to douse off the flames. No casualties were incurred in the incident.
