Ahmedabad, September 13: A 21-year-old man from Ahmedabad’s Bopal area was abducted, assaulted, and extorted for Rs 16,000 by three individuals he encountered through a gay dating app. The incident occurred on September 8 in the Thaltej area, after the victim arranged to meet one of the men he had connected with via the app.
According to a report in TOI, the victim was approached by an unknown user on the dating app who asked him to meet at a café. Upon arrival, the victim was lured into an SUV where two other men were already seated. The trio, identified as Swapnil Desai, Aaryan Desai, and Aayush Desai, assaulted the victim and forced him to transfer Rs 16,000 through a UPI transaction to an account registered under the name Aayush Rabari. Previous Crimes by the Same Group
The victim also reported that the same group had previously extorted Rs 40,000 from another individual in the same area using a similar method. After the ordeal, the complainant contacted a friend to arrange the ransom payment and then filed a police report. Police Investigation Underway
The police have charged the three accused under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including kidnapping, assault, robbery, and abetment. An investigation has been launched to uncover further details about the accused and any other potential victims. Authorities urge caution when using online dating platforms.
