Bijapur, November 11: Ahead of Chhattisgarh assembly elections, Maoist allegedly launched an attack on Sunday morning. As per reports, Maoist ambushed security forces in Chhattisgarh's Koyali Beda and triggered six Improvised Explosive Device (IED) explosions, reported ANI. In the blast, one BSF jawan was injured. The Naxal attack took place a day before the polling begins in the area for the assembly elections 2018.

In another encounter between security forces and Naxals, one Maoist was killed in Bijapur, while another has been apprehended. Security forces have also recovered Arms and ammunition. Chhattisgarh: 15 Naxals Killed In Sukma Encounter; Large Amount Of Firearms Seized.

Meanwhile, the first phase of Chhattisgarh election is scheduled to be held on November 20. Elections to the 90-member assembly will take place in two phases- on November 12 and 20 and the results will be announced on December 11. Nearly 1,200 candidates are in the poll fray but Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress, Bahujan Samaj Party and Janta Congress Chhattisgarh are considered as the key parties.
