Lucknow, October 2: A 22-year-old woman who had filed a rape case six months ago allegedly died by suicide in Uttar Pradesh's Agra recently. The alleged incident came to light after the rape survivor's body was reportedly found hanging from a noose at a city hotel on Monday, September 30. Police officials said that the deceased woman was a state-level hockey player.

The deceased woman's mother alleged that a travel agent, identified as Gagan Kumar, had raped her daughter, which eventually led to her "suicide", reports The Times of India. It is also learned that four years ago, the rape survivor had filed a molestation case against Kumar at the same police station. Deceased Woman Was Raped by Accused Four Years Ago

After his release, Kumar raped the woman once again. Following this, a case of rape was lodged against him in April. Subsequently, the police arrested Kumar, who was sent to prison. Once again, he got bail, and after coming out of jail, he "threatened" the rape survivor. After the woman's body was found, the police scanned her mobile phone.

Accused Threatened Deceased Woman to Compromise in Rape Case

They said that they found a "critical WhatsApp conversation with another player" while examining the rape survivor's phone. In her chat with another player, the deceased woman wrote, "Where are you? I'm feeling scared. Please come to me on any pretext. Even if it's just for tea, please come." The incident came to light when the hotel staff found the woman hanging after the room's door did not open until Monday afternoon. They also told cops that a man had come to meet the deceased woman and stayed in the room for an hour before leaving. Meanwhile, cops claimed that the man who met the woman was Kumar. A probe has been launched after the woman's mother claimed that Kumar threatened her daughter and them to compromise in the rape case.
