Sukma: Naxal, Carrying Reward of Rs 8 Lakh on Her Head, Killed in Encounter

Sukma, November 21: A Naxal was killed in Sukma's Pusphal area of Chhattisgarh on Wednesday in an exchange of fire between Naxals and District Reserve Guard (DRG). The decreased Naxalite was carrying a reward of Rs 8 lakh on her head, for previously carrying out several attacks in the state. Ahead of 2018 Chhattisgarh Assembly Elections, Naxals Trigger 6 Explosions in Koyali Beda, One Maoist Killed by Security Forces in Bijapur.
This comes after the second phase of Chhattisgarh assembly elections in the state held on Tuesday. The 72 constituencies over the 19 districts have voted in the second phase of the election. Polling for the first phase was held on November 12 and counting of votes will take place on December 11.
Earlier, a woman Naxal was gunned down on Tuesday in a cross-firing with security forces. The encounter took place in Burdhapara village when security personnel were out for an anti-Naxal operation. A combined squad of Special Task Force (STF) and the District Reserve Guard (DRG) were cordoning the forest near Burdhapara when the Naxals opened fire. After a brief exchange of firing, security forces recovered a woman ultra's body.
