New Delhi, January 5: Union Home Minister and BJP President Amit Shah on Sunday re-confirmed the support for CAA toll free number 8866288662 and said that it belongs to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and not Netflix. During his address in the national capital, Shah said since Saturday, rumours are being spread that the toll free number launched by BJP to garner support for the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), belongs to Netflix.

"Since yesterday rumours are being spread that the number (toll free number launched by BJP to garner support for Citizenship Act, belongs to some channel called,Netflix. I would like to clarify that the number never belonged to Netflix rather it is BJP's toll free number", Shah said.

On Saturday, Twitter was abuzz with tweets that stated offers like free Netflix subscription, free mobile data to hot chats with girls for people who called a toll-free number 8866288662. The offers also included free data plans, Netflix subscriptions, free watches – and also the opportunity to meet singles who “want to have sex with you”.

The BJP,  the during its 10-day mass contact drive, which began from January 5, had been urged to give a miss call on toll-free number 88662-88662. However, the number is being misused on social media. The number was rolled out by the BJP wherein it asked people to give a missed call to, in order to register their support for the Citizenship Amendment Act.
