Mumbai, July 24: A shocking incident of acid attack has come to light from Mumbai, where a man allegedly threw acid on his wife in Bandra East. Police officials said the incident occurred on Monday evening, July 22, at Behrampada, in Bandra, when the husband threw acid on his wife as she refused to come to him. It is learned that the woman and her son suffered burn injuries.
According to a report in Mid-day, the woman had sought divorce from her husband, who was addicted to alcohol and drugs. On Monday evening, the accused arrived at Behrampada and pleaded with his wife to return to him; however, the woman refused. This enraged the man, who went on to throw acid at her. Mother-Son Duo Stable at Kasturba Hospital
The mother-son duo were rushed to Bhabha Hospital and later shifted to Kasturba Hospital, where they are said to be stable. Meanwhile, cops said that the accused fled from the spot after the incident. They arrested him the same evening. During the investigation, police learned that the woman was from Beed and had married the accused six years ago.
Woman Takes 'Khula' After Constant Fight with Husband
It is also reported that the woman had a son from her first marriage. Cops also found that the accused, who is the victim's second husband, was addicted to drugs and alcohol. The accused's addiction often led to fights in the family. Fed up over the constant fight, the victim took "Khula" a week ago and started living separately from her husband. The police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023. After arresting the accused, the police produced him before a court, which remanded him to the police for two days.
