Mumbai, April 25: Abdul Gani Turk, the 1993 Bombay serial blasts accused, died on Thursday in GMC Hospital. Nagpur. Turk was lodged in Nagpur Central jail and was on death row. He was sentenced to death in the year 2007.
In the year 2012, a vacation bench of the Bombay High Court had refused to grant Abdul Ghani Turk, a day's release from prison to attend his daughter's wedding. Turk was a convict sentenced to death in the case. He had offered to carry the expenses of him being escorted to the venue.

However, Additional public prosecutor Purnima Kantharia had told court that the wedding was in Dongri, a sensitive area, and claimed that it would be difficult for police if any law and order issue cropped up. Dawood Ibrahim and Tiger Memon, two alleged masterminds of the blasts, are still absconding, while over hundred others, including gangster Abu Salem, were convicted by TADA court in Mumbai.
The 1993 Bombay bombings were a series of 12 bomb explosions that took place in Mumbai, then known as Bombay, on March 12, 1993. The bombings killed 257 people and over 1,400 were injured in one of the deadliest attacks on the city.
