AAP's Vanshraj Dubey Burns Effigy of Amit Shah in Lucknow to Protest JNU Violence, Gets 'Manhandled and Arrested' by UP Police; Watch Video

Lucknow, January 6: The Uttar Pradesh police on Monday "manhandled and arrested" an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader who was protesting at Hazratganj in Lucknow against the violence in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). The detainee, identified as Vanshraj Dubey, is the state president of Chhatra Yuva Sangharsh Samiti (CYSS) - the youth wing of AAP. Dubey reportedly burnt an effigy of Union Home Minister Amit Shah before being taken into custody.
As per video of the incident uploaded on social media, the police personnel armed with batons rushed towards Dubey as soon as he burnt the effigy of Shah. As the police officials grabbed the AAP leader to take him away from the site, his supporters raised slogans against Shah. According to the AAP workers, police permission had been taken by them before organising the demonstration. Their claim, however, could not be confirmed with the Lucknow police.
