'Aaj ke Shivaji: Narendra Modi' Book Controversy: Udayanraje Bhosale Tells Shiv Sena 'Your Time is Over, People of Maharashtra Aren't Fools'

His comments come a day after senior Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut on Monday demanded the book be banned and asked the warrior king's descendants to clarify their stand over the issue.

Mumbai, January 14: Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) on Monday announced the withdrawal of the book "Aaj ke Shivaji: Narendra Modi" after an uproar by the state's ruling parties. In the book, one of the BJP leader Bhagwan Goyal has compared PM Narendra Modi to Maratha King Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Responding to Sena and commenting on the book,  Udayanraje Bhosale, Ex-MP & descendant of Shivaji Maharaj on the book said, "I am telling you that your time is over. Stop calling yourself Shiv Sena, instead, you should call yourself 'Thackeray Sena'. People of Maharashtra aren't fools." His comments come a day after senior Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut on Monday demanded the book be banned and asked the warrior king's descendants to clarify their stand over the issue. The Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress, which are part of the Uddhav Thackeray-led Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi government, have criticised the book.

Prakash Javadekar on Monday said that the author Jai Bhagwan Goyal has apologised and withdrawn his book. He was quoted saying, "Goyal has written the book, but it has nothing to do with the BJP. It wasn’t a party project and after we also expressed our displeasure, he has apologised and has withdrawn the book. I think the controversy should rest."
