Santosh Jena, an employee with General Electrical Department in Baripada, Mayurbhanj district, Odisha, has threatened to commit suicide because he is unable to withdraw his Employee provident fund (EPF) due to some error in his Aadhaar Card, he claimed.
Talking to news agency ANI, Santosh Jena said that his salary is meagre and that he wants to withdraw his EPF, which he is unable to do due to an issue with his Aadhaar card. "I have repeatedly appealed district administration to help but no one helped me," said Santosh Jena. Check his image in the tweet below

A Supreme Court order on September 26, said that the 12-digit biometric Aadhaar number will not be mandatory for opening bank accounts and for obtaining a new SIM card. The Apex Court declared that the Centre’s flagship Aadhaar scheme as constitutionally valid and struck down some of its provisions. However, the Court upheld the Section 139AA which makes it mandatory to link Aadhaar with Permanent account number (PAN) linking mandatory and to file Income Tax Returns. A five-judge constitution bench headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra held that while Aadhaar would remain mandatory for the filing of IT returns and allotment of PAN but would not be mandatory to link Aadhaar to bank accounts and telecom service providers cannot seek its linking for mobile connections.
