If reports are to be believed, an increase of 44 percent in the salary of central government employees is expected to take place from next year. The new pay commission is also expected to bring along many new changes when compared to the old commission.

Mumbai, March 7: Central government employees under the 7th pay commission have been eagerly waiting to receive news about DA hike, DA arrears among others. However, there has been no decision taken by the government as yet. Since a long time, government employees have been demanding to raise dearness allowance and release DA arrears.

Amid all of this, the demand for a new pay commission is also gaining momentum. Earlier, a report said that the Narendra Modi government could introduce 8th pay commission which will go on to replace the existing 7th pay commission. Besides, the new pay commission would be then implemented two years later in 2026. Now a report in Zee News stated that the government has decided to form 8th Pay Commission, however, an official announcement by the Centre is awaited. Reports also claim that if Centre approves 8th pay commission, then salary of government employees will receive a huge boost.

Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee recently said that her government will not be able to provide additional dearness allowance (DA) to the state government employees "even if she is beheaded". Banerjee's statement comes at a time when the a joint forum of the state government employees have a nation wide strike on March 10 to demand DA arrears.
