New Delhi, October 6: Central government employees are eagerly waiting for hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) based on 7th pay commission recommendations ahead of the festive season of Navratri. More than one crore employees and pensioners will get relief from the DA increase in the second half of the year i.e. from July 1.
According to a report in DNA, this time the Central Cabinet can make an announcement regarding DA and DR of employees during Navratri on recommendations of 7th pay commission. If we look at the last few years, the Central Cabinet gives good news on DA and DR during Navratri. The government’s decision may come soon because the Election Commission may announce the dates for assembly elections in five states at any time. The retail inflation in the country has hit a 15-month-high level in July, the government is expected to increase the dearness allowance (DA) by 3% points to 45%, as per the reports. The DA hike will be effective from July 1, 2023.
It is important to know that the dearness allowance for Central government employees and pensioners is calculated on the basis of the latest Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) brought out by the Labour Bureau every month.
