Mumbai, August 24: The July DA hike is something that many central government employees are looking forward to. It's expected that the announcement will come shortly. Although the DA raise announcement date is not yet official, media reports have suggested that it would probably happen in September 2023. As per the reports, the government is anticipated to raise the dearness allowance (DA) by 3% points to 45%, given that the country's retail inflation reached a 15-month high in July. The increase of DA will take effect on July 1, 2023.

The CPI-IW for June 2023 was released on July 31, 2023. We are demanding a four percentage point hike in dearness allowance. According to Mishra, the finance ministry's expenditure department would create a proposal to raise the dividend allowance (DA) and account for the associated revenue. The proposal will then be presented to the Union Cabinet for approval, following which the announcement of the DA rise will be made.

At now, more than one crore retirees and workers of the federal government receive a 42% dearness payment. Pensioners receive DR, but central government employees receive DA. The DA was last raised in March 2023, when it went up from 4% to 42%. According to a number of publications, the next DA raise is anticipated to be 3% given the current pace of inflation.
