Mumbai, November 30: Central government employees who are eager awaiting to hear news about hike in fitment factor and HRA hike might receive some good news. According to reports, the Centre is likely to take a decision on the 18-month pending Dearness Allowance (DA) arrears soon. Since a long time, Central government employees have been demanding their DA arrears.

Over the last few months, the demand for long-pending DA arrears has been gaining momentum. Reports suggest that a a cabinet meet on 18-months DA arrears is likely to take place soon where the issue of DA arrears will be discussed. As per reports, central government employees are likely to receive their DA arrears in three instalments. According to reports, central government employees have not been paid DA arrears of 18 months from January 2020 to June 2021. The government stopped payment of DA arrears in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. In September 2022, the Centre increased the DA of government employees by 4 percent, thereby taking the DA to 38 percent from the previous 34 percent. Meanwhile, there are also questions as to when will government employees receive next DA hike. Reports suggest that the next DA hike could be announce in March 2023, which is about three months from now. Reportedly, a 3 to percent D hike is expected.
