Chandrapur, December 9: At least 11 people were killed and 4 were critically injured after a truck rammed into a van in Chandrapur district of Maharashtra on Saturday. The victims included seven women and two minor in the accident which took place in Chandrapur's Korpana area. Road Accidents in India: 17 Die Every Hour, 29 Children Each Day; 413 Fatalities Daily.
According to news agency ANI, the incident took place around 9:30 pm on Saturday night when the van, with its 15 occupants, was traveling on the Korpana-Wani road. A senior police officer, who was present at the spot, said the van driver, seven woman, and two minors were killed in the tragic incident. Police officer further added that three people have been critically injured in the accident while one escaped unhurt. The injured has been admitted to a local hospital while the truck driver fled the scene. Meanwhile, a case has been registered and investigations are underway.
