Mumbai, November 13: Seven Mumbai railway stations, that fall under the A-1 category status, will spend more than Rs 80 lakhs collectively (Rs 7 lakhs each) for installing the Indian national flag in their premises. Also, 100-Feet-Tall National flags will be installed in 75 railway stations across India before December 31, said a railway circular. The seven stations that will have the national flags in their premises are: CSMT, Mumbai Central, Bandra Terminus, Thane, Kalyan on the Central line, the Lokmanya Tilak Terminus in Kurla and Dadar. Independence Day 2018: Don't Use National Flags Made Up of Plastic, Says Home Ministry.
Along with these seven railway stations, there are some 75 railway stations all over the country that also have to follow the railway order.
A railway circular has been issued to the effect to category A-1 status. Railway stations earning more than Rs 50 crores annually are categorised as A-1 railway status.
A report in English daily Mumbai Mirror said that the deadline for the installation of the national flags is December 31, 2018. A railway source was quoted by the paper saying that there are plans of painting the coaches of local trains in Mumbai in the colours of tricolour.
