New Delhi, July 19: Talking about censoring films shown online, Prakash Javadekar, Information and Broadcasting Minister said, "New concerns are being raised that films are being shown on Netflix and other online platforms, what to do about them, there's no censor. On Wednesday, Netflix rolled out a lower-priced mobile-only plan in India, to tap into a price-sensitive market where data consumption on smartphones is surging. Netflix's new plan is an attempt to combat competition from Amazon and Hotstar, whose offerings are much cheaper. Netflix currently offers three monthly plans in India, priced between Rs 500 rupees and Rs 800.
According to a Bloomberg report, Netflix Inc. shocked investors by reporting a drop in U.S. customers and a much slower growth overseas, thus raising fears that the streaming giant is losing momentum. For the first time in eight years, Netflix is losing customers in the US market. On Thursday, Netflix shares slipped 10 percent to $325.21 at the close in New York, the worst one-day drop in three years, after the company reported a loss of 130,000 customers in the U.S.
