Ranchi, June 26: Six Jharkhand Jaguar personnel have been martyred and four injured in a landmine blast using improvised explosive devices (IEDs) triggered by Naxals in Jharkhand's Garwa district on Tuesday. Naxalites targeted security personnel who were conducting offensive operations in bordering areas of Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh. Heavy gunfire was exchanged between security personnel and Naxalites after the blast. The hilly region has become a safe hideout place for Naxalites.
The security forces have recently launched a massive anti-Naxalite operation in the hilly region to capture the area. The hilly region, Burha Pahar range is spread over more than 50 km long area. This range is on the Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh and is considered to be said to be the hideout of dreaded Naxalite Sudhakaran. He also carries a reward of Rs 1 crore on his head. Vipul Shukla, DIG Palamu Range, Jharkhand said, “6 Jharkhand Jaguar personnel killed, 4 injured in a landmine blast triggered by Naxals in Jharkhand's Garwa district.”
The incident occurred near Tumera village when the joint teams of security personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Jharkhand Jaguar and the local police were heading towards the Naxalites’ hideout, reported Hindustan Times. On June 24, security forces and Naxalites clashed near Kujrum in Latehar district. This is the second encounter in the same region in last three days.
