New Delhi, Aug 13: Cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu on Monday said he has sought permission from the government to attened the swearing-in ceremony of Pakistan Prime Minister-designate Imran Khan on August 18. Sidhu also visited the Pakistani High Commission reportedly to apply for visa after accepting the invite from Khan.

"There are some formalities for which I am here, I have applied for govt permission. Everything depends on India govt's permission now," Sidhu said after leaving from Pakistan High Commission. Khan invited Sidhu over a telephone conversation for his swearing-in ceremony. Khan also thanked Sidhu for praising hin in a press conference on August 2.

Earlier, Sidhu informed the Ministry of Home Affairs and the office of the Chief Minister of Punjab regarding his intention to attend the swearing-in ceremony. He further revealed that he was in talks with former Indian skipper Kapil Dev, who has also been invited to the event.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has confirmed that the Prime Minister-in-waiting will take oath at the President House in Islamabad on August 18.
