New Delhi, August 27: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has received 168 gifts worth Rs 12.57 lakh during his foreign visits between July 2017 to June 2018, according to the according to data of the Ministry of External Affairs' treasury. The Toshakhana (treasury) data on the ministry's website showed that PM received gifts such as Montblanc wrist watch valued at 1.10 lakh, a silver plaque and a set of Montblanc pens worth Rs 2.15 lakh and Rs 1.25 lakh, respectively. During the above mentioned period, PM visited almost 20 countries, including Israel, Germany, China, Jordan, Palestine, the UAE, Russia, Oman, Sweden, the UK, Indonesia and Malaysia. According to the data, some of the gifts include a crystal, silver bowls, replicas of Pashupatinath and Muktinath temples of Nepal, shawls, figurines of gods and goddess, tea sets, carpets, cardigans, mufflers and fountain pens, among others, as reported by PTI.

The data further stated that PM Modi also received a replica of a mosque priced at Rs 50,000, a dagger at Rs 20,000. Reportedly, if the gifts valued at Rs 5,000 are received by the government official representing India abroad are deposited in the treasury of the ministry. The person can keep the gift if the market value is less than the amount.
