Narendra Modi In West Bengal: Portion Of Tent At PM's Rally In Midnapore Collapses, Several Injured
PM Modi was delivering his speech when a portion of the tent came down crashing.
Kolkata, July 16: Several people were injured after a portion of the tent made for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's rally in West Bengal's Midnapore collapsed on Monday. The collapse happened while PM Modi was addressing people from the stage. When the portion collapsed, PM Modi asked a Special Protection Group (SPG) personnel, deployed for his security, to helo those who got injured.
PM Modi was delivering his speech when a portion of the tent came down crashing. Immidiately after the incident, he instructed an SPG personnel to look after the people and attend to any injured. PM Modi later visited the injured in the hospital and enquired about the condition of those who were hurt.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said the state government was providing all possible help to the victims. "We pray for the speedy recovery of all those injured at the Midnapore rally. The government is giving all help for medical treatment," she said.
"Straight after the rally in Paschim Medinipur, PM Narendra Modi went to the local hospital and enquired about the condition of those who have been injured," read a tweet from the Prime Minister's Office. During his visit to the hospital, one of the injured women asked the Prime Minister for an autograph and he obliged.
In his address, PM Modi made scathing attack on the West Bengal government, led by CM Mamata Banerjee. PM Modi accused the chief minister of murdering democracy in the state and said the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) failed at all fronts.
