Narendra Modi Government Spent Rs 1,195 Crore on Advertising Various Schemes in 2018-19, Says Prakash Javadekar in Lok Sabha

According to an RTI report, the Narendra Modi government has spent Rs 3,767.2651 crores in three financial years from 2016-17 till 2018-19.

New Delhi, July 8: The BJP government at the Centre has spent a whopping Rs 1,195.94 crore on advertising its schemes through various mediums in 2018-19. According to a report on Exchange4media, this information was provided by Prakash Javadekar, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting Minister. In 2018-19, Rs  514.29 crore was spent on the audiovisual medium, Rs 429.55 crore was spent on print media, Rs 235.33 crore on outdoor medium and Rs 16.77 crore on printed publicity. The advertising spends for the year 2017-18 was Rs 1,328.06 crore and Rs 1,280.07 crore was the figure for the period 2016-17.

There are other reports highlighting that Mumbai-based RTI activist Anil Galgali had sought details from the Centre’s Bureau of Outreach and Communication (BOC) on all the ad spends of the government. According to the RTI report, the government spent Rs 3,767.2651 crores in three financial years from 2016-17 till 2018-19.
