Narendra Modi Foreign Trips: Reveal Names of People Who Travelled With PM on Abroad Tours, Says CIC to EAM

PM visited 84 countries in 42 foreign trips since taking over as prime minister in May 2014.

New Delhi, September 5: The Central Information Commission (CIC) has asked the External Affairs Ministry to reveal the names of the private individuals who have travelled with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his foreign trips, according to a Times Now report. According to the report, in October 2017, Karabi Das approached the ministry to get information on expenses from foreign trips of the Prime Minister in 2015-16 and 2016-17, and also the people who accompanied him.

There was no satisfactory response, and hence the applicant approached the commission. Narendra Modi Received 168 Gifts, Worth Rs 12.57 Lakh During His Foreign Visits Between July 2017 and June 2018. The ministry has denied shedding any other details other than expenses incurred on chartered flights and the date and time of the tours.

According to an Indian Express report, an expense of Rs 1,484 crore was incurred on PM Narendra Modi's foreign trip. The expenditure was from chartered flights, maintenance of aircraft and hotline facilities during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visits to 84 countries since June 2014, according to the government.

The details of Modi’s foreign travel expenditure under the three heads were shared in Rajya Sabha by MoS, External Affairs, V K Singh. PM visited 84 countries in 42 foreign trips since taking over as prime minister in May 2014. Among Prime Minister, Narendra Modi's most expensive trips were the ones he made to France and Germany and also Canada. The Prime Minister's least expensive trip was the Bhutan trip which he made after becoming the Prime Minister of India in 2014.
