New Delhi, Jun 29: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday paid tributes at to the 15th-century saint Kabir Das at Maghar in Sant Kabir Nagar district in Uttar Pradesh. He also addressed a public rally and spoke about teachings and contributions of saint Kabir Das.

However, PM Modi got his facts wrong here as well. In his address, PM Modi claimed that Sant Kabir Das used to have discussions on spirituality with Baba Gorakhnath and Guru Nanak. Here's what the history tells about this claim of PM Modi:

Baba Gorakhnath was born in the 11th century while Sant Kabir, who lived for 120 years, was born in 1398 and died in 1518. So, it can't be possible that Baba Gorakhnath met Sant Kabir three centuries after his birth. Guru Nanak was born in 1469 and lived till 1539.

There is a possibility that Sant Kabir might have met Guru Nanak but they both discussing over spirituality is stretching things a bit too much. Guru Nanak was born when Sant Kabir was 71-year-old. When Sant Kabir died in 1518, Guru Nanak was 49-year-old. Notably, it is not confirmed if Sant Kabir lived 120 years.

Moreover, PM Modi wrongly associated two couplets of different poet to Sant Kabir Das. This is not the first time that Modi got his history and facts wrong. He has earned a bad reputation of quoting misinformation in his speeches.
