The Pune police lawyers also told the court about the letter which the police found from one of the accused's home. The letter hints at a plan of another Rajiv Gandhi-type assassination of PM Narendra Modi. However, on Saturday, author and Maoist ideologue Varavara Rao Rao rubbished the claim and said that all the letters were fake and there was an attempt to link Maoists to the Bhima-Koregaon violence.
After the PM assassination plot news started doing rounds, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also alleged that he also received two emails from Maoists with a death threat. Following this, his security was beefed up.
