Patna, Aug 3: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday broke his silence on the Muzaffarpur shelter home rape case and said the incident left everyone ashmed. "We all are ashamed of what has happened in Muzaffarpur. The CBI is conducting an invetsigation. We want a high court-monitored probe," Nitish Kumar said. The chief minister added that no person involved in the Muzaffarpur shelter home rape case.

"I would like to assure everyone that no leniency will be show towards anyone, all those found guilty will be severely punished," he said. Nitish Kumar's reaction came on a day when the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), led by Tejashwi Yadav, is holding a nationwide strike to protest rape of 34 minor girls in the shelter home. Questioning Kumar's silence, Tejashwi said, "Indirectly the Governor has questioned Chief Minister's criminal silence...I will awake Nitish Kumar's inner voice and expose his fake morality."

Earlier, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi said the state government will urge the Patna High Court to monitor the CBI investigation. "The Bihar government appointed Tata Institute of Social Sciences to audit shelter homes of the girls. The institute audited and the girls complained that they were sexually assaulted. After that the state government lodged an FIR," Modi said. "The matter has been handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and charge sheet has also been filed. In the next date, we will urge the Patna High Court to monitor the entire investigation of CBI," he added.

As many as 34 minor girls were sexually assaulted in Balika Grih, a short-stay girls' shelter home run by an NGO of Thakur in Bihar's Muzaffarpur. The state government has handed over the probe to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Out of the 11 accused persons, 10 have been arrested.
