New Delhi, April 16: In a scene that seems inspired straight from a Bollywood non-brainer, a man with no medical education was caught in Delhi's All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) posing as a junior doctor. His bluff was caught after few months and he was handed to the police after his real identity was revealed. According to a report in the English daily DNA, the man used to identify himself as a junior resident doctor and it was only after some doctors shared his photo (online) that he was caught by the security personnel at the hospital. The impersonator or real life 'Munna Bhai' was identified as Adnan Khurram. The Resident Doctors' Association (RDA) has written a letter to the authorities of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences and expressed concern over the issue.

It was later revealed that Adnan Khurram, the 'fake' doctor, hails from Bihar and is from Baradi Bairiya village in Champaran district. The newspaper report mentions that a medical booklet was recovered from him which is an exclusive for the doctors of AIIMS. How did he come in possession of the booklet is being investigated. The report also quoted Dr Abhishek Singh, who is the vice-president of the Resident Doctors' Association saying that the impersonator had used the name and clout of Resident Doctors Association and attended political and medical conferences. He further also gave a possible reason for the impersonator going unnoticed for a long period of time informing that AIIMS comprises about 2,000 resident doctors and that not every doctor knows about the other. Owing to such a large number of doctors, it's also not possible to know everyone personally, he added.

What is alarming is that it's not the first time that an outsider with no medical qualification has been caught acting as a doctor at AIIMS. There have been such previous incidents in the past as well. Report mentioned that he is in police custody and has been charged with sections 419 and 468 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
