Mumbai Weather Update: Today's Temperature is 5 Degrees Above Normal, Mumbaikars Face Unbearable Heat!

In the next 24-48 hours, similar conditions will prevail in the state of Maharashtra with no rains in sight.

26 March, Mumbai: After witnessing record breaking temperature on Sunday, when the temperature in Mumbai shot to 41°C, the second-highest temperature for March in a decade, and the highest in 7 years. Thane also recorded a maximum of 44 °C. The increase in mercury, was also accompanied by heat waves, which made it all the more unbearable for Mumbaikars. Forecasts had predicted that similar condition will prevail today as well. According to SkymetWeather, the city recorded 32 degrees at 9AM only, which is almost five degrees above normal for that point of time. Reports highlight that day temperature is likely to settle around 40 degrees in the city.

In the next 24-48 hours, similar conditions will prevail in the state of Maharashtra with no rains in sight. So Mumbaikar need to brace themselves for this sudden rise in temperature, which is accompanied with humidity and heatwave. On Sunday, the day maximum was 8 degrees above the normal average of 33.2°C. According to reports, heat wave is being felt across Maharashtra, which includes, Solapur, Akola, Wardha, Pune, Nashik and Nagpur.

According to a Times of India report, Explaining the steep rise in the maximum temperatures Nitha T, scientist from IMD Mumbai said, "The rise in temperatures is due to the strong easterly winds and delayed sea breeze. Over the last few days, the winds have been westerly which are from the sea to the land and hence much cooler. This changed wind pattern may prevail for the next two days."

In order to protect yourself from the unbearable heat, it is very important to keep yourself well hydrated when you step outside in the sun, as the fear of heat stroke remain.
