Mumbai Weather Update: Relief from Soaring Temperatures for Mumbaikars as Winds Are Changing
According to the Skymet weather report, the anti-cyclone is being pushed away and northerly winds have begun to blow over the region.
March 27, Mumbai: After two extremely uncomfortable days, there may be finally some relief for Mumbaikars from the soaring temperature and the unbearable heat wave as per forecasts. Mumbai witnessed record breaking temperature when mercury in the city shot to 41°C, the second-highest temperature for March in a decade, and the highest in 7 years. The increase in temperature, was also accompanied by heat waves, which made it all the more unbearable for Mumbaikars. Similar condition prevailed on Monday as well, with a slight drop in temperature as it settled at 38.7 degrees Celsius. However, according to a recent Skymet Weather report, situation is likely to improve in the city due to change in the direction of winds.
The report mentions that the anti-cyclone is being pushed away and northerly winds have begun to blow over the region. To add to this, the northerly winds will also result in further drop of temperatures, thus resulting in relief for Mumbaikars.
According to a Times of India report, Explaining the steep rise in the maximum temperatures Nitha T, scientist from IMD Mumbai said, "The rise in temperatures is due to the strong easterly winds and delayed sea breeze. Over the last few days, the winds have been westerly which are from the sea to the land and hence much cooler. This changed wind pattern may prevail for the next two days." Reportedly, heat wave is being felt across Maharashtra, which includes, Solapur, Akola, Wardha, Pune, Nashik and Nagpur.
