Mumbai Weather Forecast: Moderate Rains To Continue, Heavy Rainfall To Return On July 14

Mumbai, July 11: After incessant rains lashed the Mumbai city and adjoining regions including Raigad, Sindhudurg, Ratnagiri for over three days, the city is limping back to normal. The rains have subsided on Wednesday. According to private weather forecast agency Skymet Weather, heavy rains in Mumbai will return only after July 14. However, moderate showers will continue. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall at some places in the next 24 and 48 hours. According to the IMD prediction, Intermittent rains with heavy rainfalls at a few places is likely to occur in city and suburban regions.

Meanwhile, Skymet has predicted heavy rainfall in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Maharashtra in one of their tweets. The agency has predicted heavy downpour with 110 Millimetre of rainfall to be received by these regions.

Over the past three days, Mumbai witnessed continuous heavy rains leading to waterlogging and affecting both rail and road traffic. Mumbai's lifeline local train on western line was disrupted due to rainwater accumulation on tracks in Nallasopara. Train services between Bhayandar and Virar were badly affected. Several long-distance trains have been cancelled due to waterlogging on tracks.

On Tuesday, NDRF teams evacuated passengers stranded on Vadodara Express train near Nallasopara. The teams helped rescue around 700 people. A special train carrying food packets for stranded passengers was taken from Mumbai central station to Naigaon by Western railways. Prominent roads and highways also saw massive jam until Tuesday night.
