Mumbai: Unable to Make Ends Meet, Woman Strangles 11-Month-Old Mentally Challenged Baby Girl to Death, Dumps Her Body in Creek
A woman in Maharashtra allegedly strangulated her 11-month-old baby girl to death and dumped her body in the Kalwa creek in Thane on Monday.
Mumbai, June 5: A woman in Maharashtra allegedly strangulated her 11-month-old baby girl to death and dumped her body in the Kalwa creek in Thane on Monday. According to a Times of India report, the baby girl was mentally challenged and her mother, Yashoda Gade, admitted to having killed her. A day after killing the baby, she went to the police station and confessed to the crime.
According to the report, the Yashoda and her husband Kiran have another daughter who is 5 years old. She stays with her husband and in-laws in Thane in a slum tenement. Yashoda reportedly told the police that it became difficult for the family to provide proper care for Siddhi, the baby girl.
She said that her in-laws asked her to drop Siddhi to her maternal grandparents' house in Santacruz. On Monday, after Kiran dropped Yashoda and Siddhi to Thane railway station, Yashoda went to a nearby lake and strangulated the baby. She then dumped Siddhi's body in the Kalwa creek.
On Monday, when Kiran told Yashoda that he was missing Siddhi and asked her to get the baby back from her parents' house, his wife broke down and went to the nearest police station to confess to have killed her mentally challenged baby girl.
