Mumbai, June 12: Congress President Rahul Gandhi is set to address more than 10,000 party workers at Bombay Exhibition Centre, Goregaon at 4 pm today. The Mumbai Police has reportedly issued a traffic advisory stating that traffic will be affected at Western Express Highway (WEH) due to the event and asked people to avoid the road. "We have taken necessary steps to ensure smooth flow of vehicles,” Amitesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner (Traffic), Mumbai Police said as quoted by Mumbai Mirror.

Around 400 autorickshaws are expected to assemble for Rahul Gandhi’s event in Goregaon. Earlier today, Rahul Gandhi attended the Bhiwandi Court hearing where the court framed charges against him for making inflammatory remarks against RSS during a 2014 election rally. However, he pleaded not guilty before the court. Charges have been framed against Gandhi under Sections 499 and 500 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the next court hearing is scheduled for August 10.

Gandhi arrived in Mumbai early on Tuesday morning for a two-day visit to Maharashtra. According to his schedule, he will meet the kin of Dadaji Khobragade, the rural inventor who revolutionised rice farming, at Chandrapur in Vidarbha, before returning to Delhi.
