Mumbai, July 2: Mumbai has been affected with severe rainfall, and a result of which there has been water logging in several areas and Mumbai locals in selected routes have either suspended their operations or there is a delay. The weather department has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall expected in Mumbai and suburban parts in next 48 hours, similar situation expected for Vidarbha and Marathwada. Tourists have been advised to not visit mountain areas since heavy rainfall is expected in parts of Maharashtra. Mumbai Rains Forecast: Intermittent Moderate Rain, Strong Gusty Winds to Continue During Next 2-3 Hours.

Deputy Director General (DDG), IMD Mumbai said, "In last 24 hrs Colaba received 13 cm rain, Santa Cruz received 37 cm rain. From 11.30 pm-5.30 am, more than 200 mm was recorded. Situation is gradually improving, we have brought down the warning by one level. Isolated heavy rainfall is expected in Mumbai today."

Central Railways local train services have resumed partially, four special services are operating from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus to Kalyan, Badlapur, Karjat and Titwala. Also there is one special train from Thane to Dadar.

Commenting on the current situation, Devendra Fadnavis, Maharashtra Chief Minister said, "BMC & Mumbai Police on continuous alert & working 24x7 to give all assistance to Mumbaikars . As a precautionary measure & IMD advisory on heavy rains we declared holiday. We need to remain alert for next two days."
