Mumbai Rains: Boy Jumps in Trench to Flaunt His Swimming Skills & Gets Drowned in Aarey Colony

The body was fished out several hours later and a police have registered a case of accidental death.

Mumbai, July 10: Heavy rains continue to lash Mumbai, causing water-logging in several places in the last few days. In a sad incident coming from the state, a 15-year-old boy jumped into a trench, that was overflowing with rainwater to show his friends his swimming skills at the Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP) in Aarey Colony, Goregaon (East) on Saturday.

According to a Hindustan Times report, the deceased identified as Vishal Ambore took his friends to the spot. Ambore jumped into the trench, which was 15-20 feet deep and swam for a minute. The boy drowned immediately, and his friends continued to watch it in horror.

They even tried to help him with a stick, but it was of no use. Finally, they got scared and ran off home from there. Ambore's parents later came to know, and they filed a complaint with the Powai police station. The body was fished out several hours later, and police have registered a case of accidental death.
