Mumbai: Out For a Swim, Teenager Feared Drowned Off Versova Beach, Three Rescued

While three other boys were rescued by officials of fire brigade and police, a search operation was underway to trace the missing teenager.

Mumbai, Sep 3: A teenager, who ventured into the sea near Mumbai’s Versova beach on Monday evening, is feared to have drowned. While three other boys were rescued by officials of the fire brigade and police, a search operation was underway to trace the missing teenager. The missing boy has been identified as 13-year-old Vaibhav Gaud.

All four boys had gone for swimming in Versova beach in Andheri on Monday when they started drowning. Some people reportedly noticed them drowning and alerted the fire brigade and police. While three were rescued, Vaibhav is feared to have drowned. The three saved so far have been identified as Aayush Khabdduraindar, Harsh Amol and Rehan Ansari.

All the four boys are around 12-13 years of age. Further details were awaited. In July, a 15-year-old boy jumped into a trench, that was overflowing with rainwater to show his friends his swimming skills at the Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP) in Aarey Colony. He later drowned. The deceased was identified as Vishal Ambore.
