Mumbai Local Trains on Central Line Running Late, Latest Updates: Rail Roko by Students Demanding Jobs Between Dadar and Matunga Stations
As per reports, Rail Roko protest is being held by students between Dadar and Matunga stations on the Central Railway Line.
Train commuters in Mumbai woke up to commotion as local trains on Central Line took a hit on Tuesday morning. Schedule of lakhs of commuters was disrupted as several trains are running late on Central line. As per reports, rail roko protest is being held by students between Dadar and Matunga stations holding up the locals till Kurla Station. Students shouting slogans against Railways held placard in their hands demanding one time settlement from GM quota and said that they demand jobs from government. With the ongoing Ola and Uber driver strike that is happening in Mumbai, commuters and office goers will further face problem. The drivers are on an indefinite strike since March 18 midnight. Trains on Harbour and Western Line are running on time.
The protest termed 'Rail roko' is being held by All India Act Apprenticeship Association between Dadar and Matunga on central line in Mumbai. The protesters are demanding one time settlement and removal of 20 percent quota permanently. According to reports from PTI, entire four lines are affected between Matunga and CSMT. Police and railway official are having talks with them, the official said."There has been no recruitment since last four years. We are struggling from pillars to post. Over 10 students have committed suicide. We cannot let such things happen," a student who was part of the protest said.
Central Railways has also tweeted and informed commuters about trains running late and services being affected.
As per reports, trains are only running only till Kurla. Therefore, commuters are requested to check the status of the trains before boarding their respective trains. It is advised to better take the roads today in order to avoid unnecessary hassles at Kurla station.
