Mumbai Girl, Raped By Father, Asked to Return Rs 3 Lakh Compensation Money After Retracting Her Statement

The girl was repeatedly raped by her father, ever since she turned 11 years old. Even though she filed a police complaint against him, after years of sexual assault, but later retracted her statement from the Court.

Mumbai, July 5: A special city Court ordered a victim, who was repeatedly raped by her father since she was 11 years old to return Rs 3 lakh, she received as rape victim compensation scheme Manodhairya from the state. According to a Mumbai Mirror report, this is the first time such an incident has happened, ever since the rape victim compensation scheme was amended in 2017. Reportedly, the victim was asked to return the money after she turned hostile during her examination in Court. According to the Manodhairya scheme, if a victim changes or retracts her statement from the court, the entire sanctioned amount will be recovered. The scheme had already attracted a lot of criticism for their insensitive attitude towards victims.

The report mentions that the girl was first time raped by her father when she started menstruating. Earlier, it was just once in the night, but later, it took place more frequently. Whenever anyone stepped out of the home, he raped his daughter. Her father used to threaten her that if she tells it to others, he will kill her and her mother. She finally managed to run away to her step-sister's place and file a rape case against her father. Initially, her mother was also supporting her, but when it came to testifying in Court, she refused to stand by her earlier statement.
