Mumbai, Sep 1: A student of class 6 was sexually assaulted allegedly by a fellow student inside school premises. The girl was waiting for her order during recess when a boy sexually assaulted her. The victim immidiately raised an alarm, and the boy fled. The incident took place in western suburbs of Mumbai on Thursday.

The boy, whose identity is not known yet, pulled the girl's skirt from behind and put his hand inside her underwear, the victim's mother said in the FIR. The boy was not from her class, hence, she couldn't identify him. "The CCTV footage is blurred and the students standing behind the victim are unidentifiable," Assistant Commissioner of Police Dilip Yadavtold Mirror. “We have conducted the girl’s medical examination. We have also showed the footage to the parents,’’ he added. Meanwhile, the victim's parents alleged inaction by the school authorities.

A case against an unknown person under section 354 (outraging modesty) of the Indian Penal Code and section 8 (sexual assault) of POCSO Act has been registered.
