Mumbai Chartered Plane Crash: Names of the Deceased

The civil aviation minister Suresh Prabhu has also reportedly initiated an investigation in the case. The minister has directed the DGCA to investigate the plane crash.

Mumbai, June 28: An VT-UPZ of UY Aviation Pvt Ltd King Air C-90 chartered plane met with an accident as it crashed while making an emergency landing in Mumbai's Ghatkopar on Thursday afternoon. The mishap claimed five people's lives. As per reports, four who were on board the plane and one pedestrian were declared dead by doctors after being taken to the hospital. Two women and three men have reportedly died in the tragic crash.

Four of the deceased have been identified as pilot Maria Kuber, Co-Pilot Pradeep Rajput, Engineer Surbhi and Technician Manish Pandey, while one deceased's name is yet to be ascertained. Besides this, two more people got injured, and they have been identified as Lavkush Kumar, 21-year-old, and Mahesh Kumar Nishad, 21-year-old. Both are currently under medical observation.

The plane crashed in Ghatkopar's Sarvodaya Nagar after which a fire erupted at the spot. Mumbai Fire Brigade along with a medical team rushed to the spot for assistance. It was earlier reported that the aircraft belonged to the Uttar Pradesh government. However, the Principal Secretary of Information of UP, Avinash Awasthi, clarified that the plane does not belong to them. "The chartered plane which has crashed in Mumbai's Ghatkopar does not belong to the UP Government. The state government has sold it to the Mumbai's UY Aviation. The deal was done after the plane had met with an accident in Allahabad earlier," he said.

Meanwhile, Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu has also reportedly initiated an investigation in the crash. The minister has directed the DGCA to investigate the plane crash. The team of DCGA has already left for the spot to collect samples of the plane which crashed.
