Mumbai Baby Selling Racket : 3 More Held, Total Number of Arrests Reaches 14
Police have been able to nab more culprits involved in the Mumbai baby-selling racket. More 3 people have been arrested, thus taking the number of arrests in this case to 14. These babies are sold to childless couple, charging anywhere between rs 2 lakh to Rs 5 lakh per child.
Mumbai, July 15: Three more people have been arrested in connection with the baby-selling racket in Mumbai, thus taking the total number of arrests in the city to 14. According to a Mumbai Mirror report, those arrested have been identified as Lahu Nivatkar and Suraiya Khan from Antop Hill. Police also took the custody of a four-year-eight-month old child from Nivatkar, who has been raising the child as his own. On investigation, it was revealed that the culprits would sell these children to childless couples, charging anywhere between Rs 2 lakh to Rs 5 lakh per child.
Police are right now probing if they bought more children from the syndicate. DNA tests on the rescued child will be done to find their biological parents.
In another similar horrendous incident, two fake doctors were arrested from the city for allegedly running an illegal abortion clinic, which also offered a sex determination test.
