Mumbai, June 26: Air traffic congestion was reported in Mumbai region late on Tuesday, which caused the delay in several and inbound and outbound flights at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Terminus. According to reports, the disruption in flight schedule will remain till 12pm today.

According to the Jet Airways, the arrival and departure of flights from the Mumbai airport is being delayed upto 35 minutes. The traffic would normalise post midnight, the private carrier claimed in its tweet.

Flight operations were last affected in Mumbai between the intervening night on Sunday and Monday as incessant rainfall had reduced the visibility level at the runway. The domestic fliers which delayed their flights included Jet Airways and Vistara.

Earlier, on May 28, commuters at Mumbai airport faced major inconvenience as the main runway was closed for 3 hours due as the airport authorities upgraded the Instrument Landing System (ILS). A total of 550 flights were delayed.

Meanwhile, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation in the past month prepared a draft charter which recommends penalty on airlines which delay the flight by more than four hours. The fine amount will be given to the passengers who will face the inconvenience.
