Mumbai, June 21: The Mumbai Airport Authority has caught a passenger who was allegedly carrying U.S Dollar worth Rs. 1 crore. The press release issued by the Mumbai airport authority reads that at  12:10 am at security check counter, CISF inspector Vikesh, who was deployed as a screener at the VIP section of terminal 2, detected a large amount currency in the handbag of a passenger.

When asked why he has amassed such a huge amount, he had  neither a valid reason nor any document to prove his claims. Therefore, the accused was detained by the airport authority for questioning. Later, he was handed over to the income tax officials for further investigation along with the cash confiscated.

The passenger has been identified as Kunal Hare Bajaj, according to the press release. The report further mentions the accused was supposed to travel to Goa on an Air India flight AI-033 when he was caught red-handed by the officer. In recent times, with increasing instances of passengers smuggling gold, drugs and now foreign currency, the airport authority has tightened the vigilance said the officials
