Monsoon Weather Forecast 2018: Mumbai to Receive Good Rainfall Over the Weekend

Mumbai marked the beginning of monsoon officially from June 9, the day when it received heavy rainfall.

Mumbai, June 22: After a long gap of dry weather, Mumbai will get rainfall over the weekend as predicted by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) of the city. They have said that the city may witness rains for four to five day continuously, due to an offshore trough that has become active. However there is no warning issued for heavy rains, an official said to DNA.

According to reports, the offshore trough will move northwards in the direction of Maharashtra direction from Friday onwards, which will result in regular rains in Mumbai over the weekend. "The city will get good rain for the next 10 days and it could be even in a range of around 30mm daily," says Akshay Deoras, an independent meteorologist.

While other private weather forecasting agency Skymet added,"Rainfall intensity is expected to witness an increase from Friday and is likely to continue for the next four to five days. A few moderate spells with one or two heavy spells of rainfall are likely during this period. However, rain will not be a continuous affair and the intensity of rainfall will vary from place to place."

Several parts of the city low-lying area were flooded including Dadar Hindmata, Parel TT, Dadar TT, Mahim and other places. BMC to tackle the waterlogging problem on June 9, it also pressed in 3, 000 workers to assist citizens stranded in rain.

Besides the Mumbai disaster Management has recorded maximum temperature of city and suburban as 32-degree Celsius for 24 hours and has also predicted few spells of rain along with thunderstorm during the day.

Moreover, at 7:44 pm a high tide of 3.73 metres is predicted.
